Dear colleagues, dear friends,
Almost two years have elapsed since our previous meeting with Slovak colleagues in Liberec. Our next joint symposium will take place in metropole of the Western Bohemia – Pilsen. It will be already XIII. Symposium on arrhythmias and cardiac pacing in a row.
The first day of Symposium is planned in close association with the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) as a forum of national delegates from countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Within the framework of the so-called Eastern initiative, adequate space will be provided for introduction of arrhythmology in individual countries. This forum should summarize main problems that prevent development of this subspeciality of cardiology and identify potential avenues for help from EHRA. Afternoon programme will continue in English and lectures by invited speakers on ICD, cardiac resynchronization therapy and catheter ablations will be presented.
On Day 2, the scientific programme will be divided into 3 parallel sessions. Two of them will be dedicated to review lectures and original abstracts grouped in thematic blocks according to specific topics in arrhythmology. Traditionally, the third session will provide space for a meeting of Professionals in Arhhythmology, a specific branch of the Czech Association of Nursing. Scientific programme will be supplemented by company-sponsored symposia. The last day of the symposium, two parallel sessions of review lectures and original contributions will be held. The programme will be opened by Cernohorsky lecture - an interactive lecture on ECG.
The second session will provide space for presentation of original abstracts, divided according to the specific fields of arrhythmology. The third session will be devoted – as traditionally - to the meeting of a specific branch of the Czech Nursing Association, called Professionals in Arrhythmology. The last day, two parallel sessions will be held – one will be the continuation of scientific symposia and the second one will feature presentations of original abstracts.
As usually, an accompanying social programme of the symposium will offer a unique opportunity to intensify friendship and to relax.
Before the opening of the symposium, the first offical meeting of members of newly established patient organization Heart Rhythm will take place in congress venue. The goal of this organisation is to popularize arrhythmology and to educate patients with cardiac arrhythmias. Educational lectures on arrhythmias and implantable devices will be part of this first meeting.
I stronly believe that you will find scientific programme of the symposium attractive and that attendance will overcome the figure from Liberec.
